Organization
Our organization consists of the Centre of Expertise for Research and Services, the Centre of Expertise for Development and Support and their units.
The Centre of Expertise for Research and Services is responsible for the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health’s research and development activities, expert work aimed at societal influence and service business activities, i.e. co-ordinating the activities involving external clients.
The Centre of Expertise for Development and Support is responsible for the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health’s internal development and digitalization, matters related to personnel, communications and finances as well as operative support.
Leadership and management
The main decision-making body of the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health is its Board of Directors. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health appoints the members of the Board of Directors every three years. In addition to the state, labour market organizations are represented in the Board of Directors.
The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health is lead by the Director General. The Director General is supported by the executive team in the strategic leadership of the Institute. In addition to the Director General, the members of the executive team are the Directors of the Centres of Expertise for Research and Services and Development and Support and the directors of the units of these centres. The executive team’s role is to ensure that the strategy is implemented, reinforce the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health’s role in developing work life and build the internal co-operation and trust within the Institute.
The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health’s service business activities are co-ordinated by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health’s steering group for services. Research and expert work is co-ordinated by the steering group for central government transfer activities. In addition to the Director General, the directors of both Centres of Expertise are members of both of these steering groups. The Secretary to the Director General is the technical secretary of both steering groups.
